European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet)
EMODnet: Your gateway to marine data in Europe
The European Marine Observation and Data network (EMODnet) is a network of more than 150 organisations working together to observe the sea, process the data according to international standards and make that information freely available online.
EMODnet provides easy and free access to marine data, metadata, data products and services spanning seven broad themes: bathymetry, geology, physics, chemistry, biology, seabed habitats and human activities. It is a long-term initiative funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
The European Atlas of the Seas: Explore, collate and create your own sea maps!
The European Atlas of the Seas is a user-friendly application for anyone interested in Europe’s seas and coasts, their environment, related human activities and European policies.
It offers maps and interactive geographic information on tourism, environment, energy, sea level rise, fish consumption and much, much more! These maps can be printed, shared and embedded in articles or presentations.
This is an initiative of the European Commission intended for schools, researchers and professionals, or anyone wishing to enhance their knowledge. Since September 2017, the EMODnet Secretariat has taken over the management of the Atlas.
